Is farming challenging? Yes. Is it also wonderful? Yes.
Our family is part of a long tradition of Vermont farmers who’ve had to balance weather, work, and the whims of the market to continue to steward this land into organic food and a sustainable livelihood. Learn a bit about how and why we do that.
The Land and Us
We’re Ross and Amanda Ellis-Thurber, the third generation of this family to work on and with this land — 600 amazing acres nestled in a little valley.
The land is conserved through the Vermont Land Trust, meaning it can never be sold off for development. Above our fields is Round Mountain, with a steep but “worth it!” trail to the top.
This land has provided crops, cows, and more over the years. Today, we operate as a certified organic farm, certified by NOFA-VT,
We are a working farm — please do be careful and mind the mud, moos, and manure. Come talk to us about what you’re looking for — we’d love to connect.
Partners in Purpose
We’re proud members of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) and a supplier of organic milk to Stonyfield Organic.
We also work closely with:
Local Schools – offering farm-based student experiences for over 19 years.
Events for Vermont Nonprofits– helping our community build connection and purpose; just ask.
These partnerships allow us to stay rooted in our mission: organic farming to nourish our community ecosystem.

Why Organic Matters
Organic farming practices matter not simply for the healthiness of the food that is produced this way, but it indicates an ethos of stewardship rather than “production.” Organizations like Stonyfield Organic enable farms like ours to take the time and care (and compassion) to provide the best milk you’ll find (Yes! We’ll say it because it’s true.) and happy healthy cows, water, soil, air, and land.
